During this time when social distancing is so important, I will be conducting all of my sessions over video via Thera Link. I am still accepting new clients, so please feel free to contact my office to set up appointments.
Thank you, and stay safe.
Our intent is to provide a safe environment to confront the issues in people's lives that keep them stuck. We believe that integrating proven psychological principals, with speaking the truth in love using warmth, compassion, genuineness, mutual respect and prayer support if it is wanted, people can unburden themselves. It is then that people come to spiritual, emotional, and relational healing, which allows them to receive the strength and love to truly fulfill their life's purpose.
I meet with people for Individual and Couple's/Marriage counseling, as well as conducting Therapy Groups.
At this time I accept very few insurance plans, however, I do submit claims electronically for my out of network clients. Payment is due at the time of the session.
Are you having struggles with parenting issues, are in need of stress reduction and relaxation techniques, or are a loved one(s) of those suffering from addiction and are trying to cope? Deep Waters Counseling, PLLC can help.
Are you engaging in addictive behaviors and don't understand why, and experiencing the often accompanying anxiety, depression, shame and guilt that stems from those behaviors? Deep Waters Counseling, PLLC can help.
Often, substance use and other acting out behaviors start out as nothing more than coping mechanisms used to cover up deeper, more painful emotions not wanted to be felt. Unfortunately, these means of coping tend to become issues in and of themselves that need to be dealt with also. Together we can discover and work through the core issues that are at the heart of these adverse behaviors and moods.
No two clients are the same, even if you come to therapy with similar issues as other clients. That is why several types of therapeutic styles might be integrated into the work we will do, depending on your needs, such as: Gestalt, Brief Solution-Focused, Experiential, Role Playing, Motivational Interviewing , Cognitive-Behavioral, EMDR as well as Prayer Support (only if it is wanted).
Many clients ask me, "Is it possible to change?" I always tell them that I'm sitting in the wrong chair if I didn't believe it is. However, it's extremely important to remember that: There are 168 hours in a week, and for one of those hours you'll be sitting in my office working toward positive change. What you do with the remaining 167 hours is vitally important. How many of those 167 hours you spend pondering and applying the hour we spend together can make all the difference with how quickly positive change can happen.
I believe some people come into therapy READY to make positive changes, while others come into therapy WILLING to change. There is a big difference between the two, and that's ok! While someone is WILLING, they learn what it takes to become READY by creating a mental picture of who they want to become. They become aware of mental blocks and triggers that keep them stuck, and eventually how to loosen the power these things have over them. This helps clients become READY to make the positive changes they sought counseling for in the first place.
I graduated from Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. in 2005 with a Masters in Counseling Psychology and divided the necessary education for my CDP between Edmonds Community College and The Northwest Indian College. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and a Chemical Dependency Professional (CDP).
Prior to opening Deep Waters Counseling, PLLC in 2010, I worked in Outpatient and Intensive Outpatient facilities working with a large variety of addiction issues and addictive behaviors including substance abuse, eating disorders and sexual addiction, to name a few, as well as working with people suffering from any number of mental-health issues.
Gregg Lerner is a wonderful counselor. When I went to him for individual counseling, it was only the second time I had ever been to a counselor; I was very nervous, but Gregg was very patient and never pushed me too hard. I started going to him for friendship troubles, but during our sessions, Gregg was a big help in helping me rethink the way I viewed and dealt with various other problems in my life. The area near the building is also very nice, and when the weather permitted, we'd go for walks during our meetings. I highly recommend Gregg for a counselor!
Gregg is an amazing counselor. He really helped me get to the root of some childhood trauma and how it has effecting me and my life today. He really asked questions and listened to get to the bottom of things. He is very patient and kind.
I am so glad I took the leap to seek help. I have a different outlook about myself and my life thanks to him making me stop and really think about life.
Gregg is an amazing counselor with such a warm, welcoming personality. He has helped me on so many levels... He has a way of making you feel like you've known him forever, even after the first meeting. If there were 10 stars I'd give him 11!
I received a professional and personable counseling experience with a good dose of humor mixed in. Greg is a gifted, spiritual counselor, who zeroes right in on underlying issues without wasting time. He offers many practical resources helping to shed light, understand and to solve issues. Greg has a keen sense of understanding people, a practical wisdom and a relaxed demeanor making him an excellent counselor. I feel blessed to have found him and wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to my family and closest friends.
For many people it takes a great deal of courage to begin the therapeutic process. I applaud anyone who makes the determination to begin earnestly looking in the mirror to figure out what is needed to make positive change in their life.
